More and more research is now coming out on the benefits of vitamin D and how it can help you burn belly fat, get stronger, live longer while also improving your immune system and preventing diseases. Most people in the United States are deficient in vitamin D and this is most likely from a lack of exposure to sunlight especially in the winter months. This lack of vitamin D can lead to an increase in visceral belly fat as well as many other diseases including depression and cancer.

It's important for people to make sure they have adequate levels of vitamin D in their body and this can be done from either exposing yourself to sunlight for 30 to 60 minutes per day or it can be gotten through the diet. There was a study that was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that found those who took a vitamin D supplement for 16 weeks actually lost over 5 pounds over the course of the study. This is an impressive feat considering that they lost this weight without any additional exercise or nutritional intervention.

As we age it becomes even more important for us to take a vitamin D supplement because the vitamin D receptors in our body lose their responsiveness as we age. But vitamin D should also be a focus supplement in the winter months because there is a huge lack of sunlight which has commonly led to people having what is known as the "winter blues." It is recommended to take 5000 IU's of vitamin D if you are deficient or and less if you can get 30 to 60 minutes of sun exposure per day.

Unfortunately most people neglect their take of vitamin D which can lead to very bad health complications. Although some of the benefits of taking vitamin D include improvements to muscle strength, muscle power, muscle force, insulin regulation, asthma treatment, cardiovascular health, cancer prevention and mood. Some natural foods that include vitamin D are eggs, fish, cod liver oil and fortified milk. Also another main benefit of taking a vitamin D supplement would help to increase the absorption of calcium which will clearly improved bone mineral density and health.

There are some diseases that have been resolved in vitamin D deficiency such as rickets which is occurs mostly in very young children and osteomalacia. People that have to be careful not to have a vitamin D deficiency include older people, obese individuals, infants and all those who are limited to daily sun exposure. Obviously there are many benefits to taking a vitamin D supplement or getting your vitamin D through sun exposure. But the most important thing is to make sure that you're getting this powerful vitamin one way or another on a daily basis.
