Extra Large Dog Houses For the Great Pyrenees

With their long thick fair fur, jet black noses, and extra large size, the friendly faces you’d be looking into may sound like and look a little like a polar bear cub but these are the beautiful breed of domestic dog known as the Great Pyrenees. The dogs were bread as protectors against predators, guarding people, sheep and property against wolves and bears. As with other large breeds they have a slower metabolism and may seem lazy but really they are just ‘relaxing’. They need space to move around and feel comfortable just any other breed of animal. An extra large dog house would be a suitable space for some outdoor relaxing for your four legged security system.

Standing up to 30 plus inches at that shoulder and weighing over 110 pounds on average you need to make sure you have the space if you are going to bring these devoted and affectionate dogs into your house. Because they were bred to be protectors, you need to have a large fenced in yard where they can ‘patrol’ a given space, defined by you. If you allow them to take over then they can become territorial about a larger area. Having a well constructed dog house for this extra large breed outdoors would be beneficial. This will give them their own space outside and you a break inside.

They need to understand from you who is welcome in your home as well. They will bark to alert you of intruders. You need to give cues as to who is accepted and they will follow your lead and will typically welcome anyone. As with any dog, having their set space to go to is a great training tool and these natural born territorial defenders would do well having their own dog house in a yard where they can walk around and feel they are doing their jobs maintaining order on the premises.
