The 1-2-3 Approach!

When it comes to closets one thing is for sure, everyone wants it clean and organized. That goes for the simple closet all the way to the grand walk-in type. The fact is there is nothing better than being able to find what you want, when you want it. If your closet is in desperate need of help, I am here to tell you that closet organizing is not as hard as you might think. In fact it is as easy as 1-2-3.

Step One: Place Like Items With Like Items

Get everything out of the closet and place the shoes with the shoes, the skirts with the skirts, the belts with the belts, the jeans with the jeans and so on.

Step Two: Arrange

Now that you got the items grouped, you can take it a step further by arranging each set by color, by fit (such as tight or loose), by material (for example: silks, linen, wool, cotton and so on) Or perhaps by use (day, night, formal). For shoes, I have found it very effective to arrange them by color and heel size.

Step Three: Improve Your Storage

If you find out that it is impossible to browse for items once you get everything back in, an option to consider is plastic storage bins. Bulky items like sweaters and hoodies go great in bins. Shoes store great in plastic bins as well. The one thing to remember here is to make sure that the bins are clear and that they have a lid. This will allow you to stack the bins vertically, maximizing your space if you happen to have a small closet. Another thing to remember is to label the bins so that you can know which box to open and what's inside.

Additional options to consider are shelves and drawers. Undergarments and socks are best stored in drawers. As for handbags, belts and ties, these items can best be managed by hanging or wall mounted shelves.

Whether you closet it small, medium or large, taking the time to organize it will result in a great many benefits. The most important one is to be able to locate what you want quickly and efficiently. With little effort you can change your cluttered closet into something you can enjoy today!
